Applications open for new Trainee Conservation Plant Nursery Manager role

Are you interested in the flora of North Yorkshire?

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to assist and support work in our conservation plant nursery and be trained to manage the running of the nursery into the future.

Based at Nosterfield Nature Reserve, you will learn and undertake a variety of tasks. These will include practical tasks such as plant propagation, planting and building nursery infrastructure. You will also play a key role in planning nursery work to fulfil orders and meet LUCT’s habitat creation priorities. You will help with engagement events where necessary and contribute to our social media output.

Training will be provided and you will work closely with our nursery volunteers and ecologist to learn the necessary skills.

A passion for nature conservation and a strong desire to learn are essential, along with good communication, organisational and IT skills. You must also have a driving license and be able to take up weekend / flexible working hours on occasions.

 

ROLE DETAILS

Closing date: 23/03/2025

Interview date: Interviews will take place during week commencing 31st March 2025

Working hours: 15 hours per week. The working hours of this role will generally be carried out between Monday & Friday, but some weekend working will be required i.e. when assisting with events. Working days are not set and can be discussed, however there may be some flexibility needed so that some days coincide with the days of our nursery volunteers.

Salary: £10,400 per annum (£26,000 pro rata)

Term: 12-months (with potential to extend subject to funding)

Annual leave allowance: 4 weeks plus bank holidays (pro rata).

Probation period: 1 month

Location: Nosterfield Nature Reserve, Nosterfield, Bedale, North Yorkshire, DL8 2QZ, occasional home working may be required.

Essential: 18+, full driving license and access to personal transport.

Additional information: Mileage in addition to the normal journey from home to the reserve will be paid at a rate of 45p per mile.
